If you have a weak heart then I recommend that you do not listen to this CD. It will make your heart jump straight out of your chest! It rocks that damn hard! The lineup of this rad band is Hurricane Jenny on the microphone, Heather Mars and Frankie Stein on the guitars, Jonas on the bass, and Jeff Creep banging the drums.
I was totally blown away by this CD. First of all, it’s a live CD. You know how some bands just suck live?! Sure they may sound great in the studio because they have great producers and mixers, etc and then you hear them live and you just want to cut off your ears? Well that’s not the case here!! Midnight Creepers kick ass live! Well…their sound anyway. But what I could hear from the audience I’m sure they have great stage presence. Their music definitely makes you want to pump your fist in the air and then punch some skanks like it says to in their opening song called, “I Wanna Punch a Skank”. During the Midnight Creep’s set I’m sure that the pit was wild! Their music has a 77 style, oi! sound combined with speed, hardcore, punk rock n roll. They get you all riled up and ready for a fight. During their song, “All For 1 and Fuck ‘em All” I wanted to just punch anyone and everyone who came near me! The Midnight Creepers covered “Love Comes in Spurts” by Richard Hell and they did it magnificently. It sounded like Hell’s but they definitely put their own original twist on it.
Whoever says that girls can’t sing punk rock will shit their pants once they hear Hurricane Jenny! You can tell she’s one of those tough as nails kind of girl who doesn’t take shit from anyone! Her vocals are absolutely amazing! They’re incredibly raw and powerful! She has a sort of twang about her voice. She can growl with the best of them. On their song, “Dirty Animal”, Jenny’s growls sounded pretty similar to Johnny Rotten’s!
This CD left me wanting more. I know that it will be going in my daily CD rotation. If you’re a pit soldier then this CD is for you. It’s definitely not for pussies.
